Before & After Photos

Each facelift is as unique as your individual face, and Dr. James Romanelli will tailor your surgery for your desired result. At our plastic surgery center on Long Island, facelift surgery is performed under a sedative ("twilight") or light general anesthesia, given by our board certified MD Anesthesiologist. The surgery generally takes 2 to 3 hours.

Generally, a facelift begins with incisions at your hairline from the front of your ear and back behind the earlobe. The incision will be longer or shorter, depending on your specific needs. To lift the neck or to reduce a double chin, an additional small incision may be necessary under the chin. Any excess tissue, fat and skin can be removed, facial and neck muscles can be tightened and the remaining skin can be draped to reveal smooth, taut skin and youthful facial contours.

For patients who need little correction in the neck, the procedure may be called an "Anterior Facelift" or "Mini-Lift." In those instances the patient may go home a few hours after surgery. When the neck requires more correction, the procedure is called a Full Face and Neck Lift. For these surgeries we recommend a private duty nurse to care for you overnight, which may be done at your home, or as most patients prefer, in our in-office overnight stay facility. Family or friends can visit, and you have the peace of mind of the constant care of a plastic surgery nurse.
